Peneda-Gerês National Park

A landscape that combines mountains, rivers, waterfalls and a lot of biodiversity. The Peneda-Geres Park route passes through many different sites, including winter snowy mountains, where some of the most elusive mammals and reptiles in the country hide. We will reach plateaus with flooded meadows, rich in biodiversity, and we will visit some of the most ancient forests that exist in Portugal.

Species:

Resident: Crag Martin, Spotless Starling, Booted Eagle, Golden Oriole, Zitting Cisticola, Rock Bunting, Quail, Iberian Grey Shrike, Short-toed Eagle, Dartford Warbler.

Breeding: Pallid Swift, Iberian Chiffchaff, Red-rumped Swallow, Long-eared Owl, Western Bonelli's Warbler, Honey Buzzard, Rock Thrush, Ortolan.

Wintering: Merlin.

Best time to visit: Spring-Summer.
