Amarante

Amarante, an ancient town bathed by the river Tamega, has wildlife to discover.

In Amarante, our tour will take us through the town which has a diverse and extensive green area that unfolds along the banks of the beautiful Tâmega river. On this route we will surprise visitors with the diversity that can be found in the city, including riparian, rupicolous and forest species, among others.

Species:

Resident: Iberian Green Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch, Cetti's Warbler, Zitting Cisticola, Crag Martin.

Breeding: Pallid swift, Iberian Chiffchaff, Turtle Dove.

Site: In Amarante we can find a considerable variety of habitats that are always marked by the presence of the river. From agricultural land and vineyards in the surroundings, to the urban environment with a decent number of trees, to the centenary Forest Park that provides shelter to many species.

Best time to visit: all year round.
