Douro Internacional
The Douro region is the best place for watching birds of prey. On this route we will visit different cliffs and viewpoints in the Douro river valley where we will observe a large number of birds of prey, scavengers and other gliders.
The region's arid plateaus, adapted for grazing and covered by Mediterranean scrubland that shelters many animals, some of them very rare and of very specific occurrence on the Iberian Peninsula.
This route can be complemented with trips to the Montesinho Natural Park or to any other area of the Trás-os-Montes and Alto-Douro region.

Resident: Red-legged Partridge, Thekla's Lark, Griffon Vulture, Bonelli's Eagle, Crag Martin, Rock Sparrow, Rock Bunting, Sardinian Warbler, Spotless Starling, Cirl Bunting, Cinereous Vulture, Golden Eagle, Chough, Dartford Warbler, Iberian Magpie, Peregrine, Eurasian Eagle Owl and Black Wheatear.
Breeding: Long-eared Owl, Egyptian Vulture, Red Kite, Alpine Swift, Hobby, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Golden Oriole, Red-rumped Swallow, Hoopoe, Bee-eater, Woodchat Shrike, Western Bonelli's Warbler, Eastern Subalpine Warbler, Quail, Pallid Swift, Black Stork, Melodious Warbler, Western Black-eared Wheatear, Red-necked Nightjar, Western Orphean Warbler, Blue Rock Thrush.
Best time to visit: Spring-Summer.
